Frequently Asked Questions About Email Marketing

How do the email costs and complimentary credits work?

Ivorey™ has managed to keep our plan costs at some of the most affordable in the industry, but there are some real charges that we have to pay to telco providers every single time you send an email or SMS. Instead of blanket price increases to our plans like other companies do, we have implemented a pay-for-what-you-use system, where only the members who want to send high volumes of emails will need to pay slightly more to cover these additional costs.

Your Ivorey™ subscription includes the equivalent credit of 10,000 emails per month, however please refer to our Billing and Inclusions guide for full detail of how these credits work - as they can be used for many more things than just email. Please note, that if you've set up email forwarding, this will also count as an email.

What does DND mean?

DND stands for 'do not disturb'. The DND feature is something you can turn on or off for a contact manually, or if they select to ‘unsubscribe’ from your emails, this will enable the DND setting in their contact profile automatically. Please refer to our DND guide for more information.

How can I see if a client has replied to an email I've sent them?

To see if a client has responded to an email you have sent them, check the [Messaging] tab. You can also search their contact profile inside [Contacts] > here you can see any emails sent or received inside the middle messaging box. You can click on an email to open it and see if there have been any responses, as these will show in a thread-like format.

Why are my emails landing in spam?

If you haven't already, we recommend that you set up your dedicated email sending domain. When you connect a dedicated sending domain, you are creating a brand new email domain to send emails from. Because of this there is a period of time where your domain will need to 'warm up' and build it's reputation so external email providers mark your emails as safe.

When we first set up our dedicated sending domain, we landed in spam initially as well, but as your domain builds its sender reputation, external platforms mark it as safe and your deliverability rates become really strong.

What most people don't realise is that most platforms just offer a shared domain, which means you are using the same sending domain that everyone using that platform is using - that's why we recommend setting up a dedicated sending domain, because while there is a process of 'warming it up', it allows you to be in full control of your sending reputation because it is not affected by other uses.

Does adding images in emails impact deliverability or inbox placement?

Including a logo at the top and a headshot or signature image at the bottom of an email is generally okay, and doesn't automatically hurt your email deliverability.

Email platforms (like Gmail) look at lots of factors to decide where your email goes (Inbox, Promotions, or Spam) - these include things like: your sending reputation, whether your domain is properly verified, how many people open or click your emails, how much text vs. images is in the email, and if the content looks like Sales.

Best Practices:

  • Keep using your logo and signature they help with branding and trust.

  • Make sure the email also has text content and not just images.

  • Try not to overload the email with images or promotional phrases.

  • Make sure your images are small in file size and not too large.

In short: Yes, you can include your logo and branded elements. Just balance it with enough written content and follow a few best practices, and you should be fine.

Why is there a link showing as the email preview text?

A link populating as an email's preview text is pretty common with a lot of default mobile email apps (like Apple Mail). If there’s a link near the top of the email, or the email content holds links (these can come from images added or custom values used, as well as URL links directly), the mobile mail app sometimes grabs that as the preview text instead of the body text or pre-header you’ve set.

This is why the email can look fine on the laptop for example, but shows the link on the phone view. It’s not an Ivorey™-specific issue, it's just the way certain email apps work with emails that have links or images included.

If you download the Gmail app or Outlook app to your phone (whichever mailing platform you use) this should then populate your email correctly without the link in the preview text, as it is usually the phones default mailing app that causes it to display this way.
