Before You Dive In

This article is one step from our Master Help Guide: All About Courses. We recommend starting with the visual walkthrough video and examples inside the Master Help Guide before diving into the technical setup below.

Each Master Help Guide acts as your project plan – teaching you the feature, laying out the steps in the right order, and linking to every resource you’ll need along the way.

This guide is perfect if you want to:

  • Create an offer and offer checkout for your course

  • Control course access dates (e.g. start immediately, or drip access later)

  • Make your courses available for people to access

What Is a Course Offer?

To give people access to a free or paid course, you’ll need to create an 'Offer'. Without one, a course alone just sits inside your account without any way for users to access it. You can include one course, or multiple courses inside each offer.

Once you do, you can then set rules in Ivorey™ such as: When someone purchases x product, grant them access to this offer.

Similarly, you can also revoke offers if someone cancels a subscription or a certain period of time lapses. In short, offers are what give you control over access to your courses, and is an essential step after you create any course.

How To Create An Offer For Your Course

Once you've setup your course portal, it's time to create an offer so it can be made available for users to access. This is an essential step no matter how you plan to give away or sell your course.

  1. From the main menu, go to Courses > Courses > Offers.

  2. Click [Create Offer] and give your offer a name.

  3. Under the [Products] tab, select the course portal(s) you’ve already created. You can add one course, or bundle multiple together.

  4. Choose a pricing option:

    • Free – for free courses, or when you’re selling through a funnel instead.

    • One-time – for a single purchase price

    • Recurring – for subscriptions or payment plans.

      • For payment plans - enter the number of times the billing should repeat.

      • For ongoing subscriptions - leave the number of times blank so it will recur indefinitely.

    • Optional: Add a trial period (number of trial days) or one-time setup fee if desired.

  5. Switch the toggle to [Live] mode.

  6. Set Offer Access rules (Optional)

    • Delay access until a specific start date (e.g. for pre-launch).

    • Limit access for a set duration (e.g. 6 weeks only).

  7. Click [Save] to finish.

Frequently Asked Questions

How can I give access to a free course?

To give away a course for free, follow the same steps inside the Courses Master Help Guide, except when you get to step 5, you'll simply set the offer price to be free. Alternatively, if you have a community that you want to add the free course to, you could also add it inside the Learning tab of your community and set the price to be free.

What’s the difference between a course and an offer?

A course is where the learning content is housed. An offer is a single or bundle of courses that you then sell. One course can be linked to many different offers.

How can I bundle multiple courses for sale?

You can bundle multiple courses together for sale by setting up an offer.

  1. Click on [Courses] in the left-hand menu.

  2. On the top bar, select [Course].

  3. On the drop down, select [Offers].

  4. Click the [Create Offer] button.

  5. Select the courses you want to include in the bundle.

  6. Save and publish your offer.

Will changing the access date for my course affect the members already inside

No, changing the Access or Start date will only apply to new sign ups. Existing members will keep their current access.

Can Square be used to collect payment through Offer Checkouts?

No, currently Offer Checkouts only support Stripe (and sometimes PayPal). If your account only has Square connected, you won’t be able to set a price for course offers. To collect payment, connect Stripe or build a Sales Funnel linked to your course.

Do I need to create a course offer if I'm selling via a sales page or sales funnel?

Yes, you still need to create a course offer even if you're selling through your website instead of an offer checkout. The offer is what controls the access to your course and is a mandatory step. You can set the offer to free, because in your Sales Funnel training we'll show you how to grant people access to this offer.
