Before You Dive In

This article is one step from our Master Help Guide: All About Domains. We recommend starting with the visual walkthrough video and examples inside the Master Help Guide before diving into the technical setup below.

Each Master Help Guide acts as your project plan - teaching you the feature, laying out the steps in the right order, and linking to every resource you’ll need along the way.

This guide is perfect if you're looking to:

  • Decide how you want your website domain to connect to Ivorey™

Option 1: Point Your Domain to Ivorey™ (Most Common)

This is the most popular and recommended setup. You keep your domain hosted with your current provider (such as GoDaddy or Google Domains), but use it for your Ivorey™ website, funnels, or blog.

What this means:

  • You do not transfer the domain.

  • You continue paying your original provider for hosting.

  • You simply add a few DNS records into your existing provider’s settings — we’ll give you those.

  • Once complete, your Ivorey™ website/funnels will display when someone visits your domain.

Best for:

  • Members who already have a domain and want to get started quickly.

  • Users who are happy with their current domain provider.

  • Avoiding downtime on other systems connected to your domain.

Option 2: Transfer Your Domain to Ivorey™

If you’d like Ivorey™ to manage your domain entirely, you can transfer your domain to our platform.

What this means:

  • You move your domain hosting from your existing provider to Ivorey™.

  • Ivorey™ will manage DNS and billing going forward.

  • You will pay domain hosting fees through Ivorey™.

Best for:

  • Those looking to manage everything in one place.

  • Simplifying billing and support.

  • Starting fresh with a new setup or consolidating from a previous provider.

Important: Domain transfers can take 24–48 hours to complete. Your DNS settings may also need to be reconfigured after the transfer is complete.

Option 3: Purchase a New Domain Through Ivorey™

If you don’t yet have a domain, you can purchase one directly through Ivorey™.

What this means:

  • You search, purchase, and manage your domain directly in your Ivorey™ account.

  • You’ll be able to set it up immediately with any Ivorey™ website, funnel, or branded asset.

  • Domain hosting fees will apply and be managed through your Ivorey™ billing.

Best for:

  • Members who are just getting started.

  • Those looking to set up a brand-new online presence.

  • Managing everything from one platform.

If you’re seeing delays or SSL errors, allow some time before retrying or refreshing your page or contacting support. If any issues persist, please let us know and we'll help you get connected!

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I use the domain in my client portal?

Yes, you can use your domain in your portal, but it must be a new subdomain, not an existing one e.g. clients.yourdomain.com or members.yourdomain.com

How long does it take for DNS changes to go live?

It can take up to 72 hours for domain and DNS updates to propagate fully across the internet. If you're seeing an SSL error or your link isn’t loading yet, it usually resolves within this timeframe.

I transferred my domain to Ivorey but need help setting it up

If your domain has already been transferred to Ivorey™, you do not need to contact external providers like Cloudflare. Our support team can help guide you with:

  • Confirming the transfer

  • Setting up DNS records

  • Assigning the domain to your site

Just open the Ivorey™ chat widget, and our team will help you get everything configured.

What if I have other websites still live on my current domain?

If you're using your main domain for an existing external website (like on WordPress, Wix, etc.), do not connect your main domain to Ivorey™. Instead:

  • Use a subdomain like offername.yourdomain.com or servicename.yourdomain.com.

  • This allows you to keep your external website running, while still using Ivorey™ for new assets to operate all your back end - it's the best of both worlds, and allows you to either migrate a website at your pace, or keep your existing site.

What happens if I’ve transferred my domain to Ivorey™?

If your domain was transferred to Ivorey™, you can manage it directly in your dashboard under [Settings] > [Domains] From there, you can assign it to your funnels or websites, and Ivorey™ will handle all hosting.

How can I resolve domain connection issues between GoDaddy and Ivorey?

To resolve domain connection issues between GoDaddy and Ivorey, follow these steps:

  1. Resolving "multiple A records found" error: Double-check your DNS records in GoDaddy to ensure there's only one A record for @ under your domain.
If there's an existing A record for @, ensure it points to Ivorey's required IP address (available in your domain connection instructions).
Wait for DNS propagation, which can take a few minutes to a few hours.

  2. Checking for domain conflicts: Main domains can only be connected to one website at a time. If you have an external website you want to keep live, create a subdomain inside of Ivorey.
Check your domain records for any duplicated or conflicting records in your DNS settings.

  3. Finalising the connection on Ivorey: After editing the A record on GoDaddy, go through the domain connection process to add the records Ivorey provides to your domain DNS settings.
Click 'verify records' on the Ivorey page. You will know the domain has been added as it will display listed on the page.

What happens to any remaining time on my domain when transferring it to Ivorey™?

When you transfer your domain to Ivorey, all remaining time on your existing domain registration carries over. Nothing is lost.

As part of the transfer process, you simply pay for one additional year of renewal which is a standard requirement. That extra year is added on top of your current expiration date, extending your domain by a full year beyond what you already had with your previous provider.

In short, your domain stays intact, all existing years are kept, and you gain one extra year during the transfer. Typical is $12–$20/year.

Tip: If your domain has expired or is close to expiring, make sure to renew it before starting the transfer, otherwise you may lose ownership.
