Every new AI Studio project is built as a full web app, with its own secure server working behind the scenes. This means your pages load ready for search engines and social media to read, private tasks run safely out of sight, and your project can connect to the other tools you use without exposing private details to your visitors.
Server rendering (SSR) - your pages are prepared on the server before they reach a visitor, so search engines, social media previews, and AI search tools can see your actual content. This is ideal for landing pages, multi-page websites, and pages you share on social media
Server functions - private tasks that run securely on the server for your project, such as calling another platform with a private key, loading protected information, checking submitted details, or running calculations
API connection points (REST APIs) - web addresses on your project (e.g. yourdomain.com/api/...) that other tools can send information to, such as a webhook from an external platform (e.g. whenever a new order is placed there)
Secrets - secure storage for API keys, tokens, and other private details, so they're never visible to your visitors
This guide is perfect if you want to:
Help search engines and social media read and display your AI Studio pages
Connect your AI Studio project securely to other tools you use, without exposing private keys
Receive information from other platforms in your AI Studio project
Upgrade an older AI Studio project so it can use server features and AI Studio Cloud
The server works behind the scenes in every new AI Studio project, so there's nothing to turn on! Describe what your project needs to do in the chat, and AI Studio builds the right server features for you, whether that's a page, a private server task, or a connection point for another platform.
AI Studio chooses the right feature for you, but knowing the difference can help you describe what you need.
Your project needs to run a private task for its own pages (e.g. looking up an account) - a server function
Another tool or platform needs to send information into your project (e.g. a webhook) - an API connection point
A private task needs an API key or token - a server function, using a Secret
A private value must never appear on your page - a Secret
AI Studio builds server functions and API connection points for you, based on what you describe, so you don't need to set these up yourself. Your part is to explain clearly what your project needs to do, and add any private keys or tokens it needs as Secrets.
From the main Ivorey™ menu, go to AI Studio > open an existing project, or create a new project by describing what you want to build in the prompt box
In your project chat panel (or the prompt box, for a new project), describe what your project needs to do, including any platforms it needs to connect to, for example: "Build a portal where my clients can check the status of their orders. It should have a landing page, a private account login, and connect to [platform name] to receive status updates for orders placed there."
Note: AI Studio works out which tasks need to run privately on the server and which connection points other platforms need, and builds these as part of your project. You don't need to do anything extra.
If your project needs a private API key, token, or other private detail to connect to another platform, add it as a Secret rather than pasting it into the chat. Secrets keep these details out of your page code, so your visitors can never see them:
Click the 📦 More button at the top of the page > click [Cloud] > and click 🔑 [Secrets] on the left-hand menu
Click [+ Add secret] > enter a name in the SECRET_NAME field, using capital letters, numbers, and underscores only (e.g. ORDER_API_KEY) > and paste your key or token into the Value field
Note: You can get the key or token from the platform you want to connect.
(optional) Click [+ Add another] to add more than one Secret at a time
Click [Save]
Mention the Secret's name in the chat so AI Studio knows which one to use (e.g. "Use the ORDER_API_KEY secret to load order updates from [platform name]")
Note: AI Studio will also let you know in the chat when your project needs a Secret. If you've already pasted a key or token into the chat, regenerate it on the external platform and add the new one as a Secret instead.
If another platform needs to send information into your project (e.g. a webhook whenever a new order is placed), ask AI Studio in the chat for the full web address of the connection point it has created > and paste it into the webhook or integration settings on that platform
If the external platform offers a way to verify its incoming updates (such as a signing secret), add it as a Secret > and prompt AI Studio to check it before your project processes anything (e.g. "Verify the signature on incoming [platform name] requests using the [SECRET_NAME] secret before processing them")
(optional) Click the [</>] code icon at the top of the page to switch to Code mode, where you can review or edit the code AI Studio has generated
Before publishing, test what visitors see as well as what happens behind the scenes. Some issues won't be visible from the page design alone.
From the main Ivorey™ menu, go to AI Studio > and open your project
Use the preview canvas on the right-hand side, or click the ↗︎ square arrow icon at the top of the page to preview in a new tab > and check that:
All public pages load correctly (click the 💻 computer screen icon to check the Desktop, Tablet, and Mobile views)
Features that run on the server work as expected, including when someone enters something unexpected (e.g. leaves a field blank)
Private keys and tokens don't appear anywhere visitors can see > click the [</>] code icon > use the search bar to search for the first few characters of your key or token > and if it appears in any file, ask AI Studio to move it into a Secret
Page titles, headings, and descriptions are correct
If something isn't working, describe the issue in the chat (e.g. "The order status isn't showing after I log in") > and ask AI Studio to fix it
When you're ready, publish your project and connect your custom domain, following the Review and Publish Your Project steps in our AI Studio guide
Once published, test any connection points > trigger a test from the external platform (e.g. place a test order) > then click the 📦 More button at the top of the page > click [Cloud] > [Database] on the left-hand menu > and click the relevant table to check the new record has come through
Note: If you can't see the record, click [Refresh] to load the latest records. If it still doesn't appear, describe the issue in the chat and ask AI Studio to fix it.
Open your live project and test it again to confirm everything works the same way once published
Projects created before the new web app framework keep running as they are, and aren't upgraded automatically. You only need to migrate an older project if you want to use server features, AI Studio Cloud, or improve SEO for that project. Migrating creates a separate upgraded copy, so your original project, live site, domains, and version history stay exactly as they are.
From the main Ivorey™ menu, go to AI Studio > hover over your project card > click the [⋮] three dots > click [Settings] > and stay on the Project Settings tab
Under Danger zone, click [Migrate] next to Migrate to SSR
Confirm or update the name for the new copy > review and accept the migration notes > and click [Migrate]
Note: Migration uses AI Studio usage in the same way as a normal build.
AI Studio creates the separate copy, opens it, and runs the upgrade in the new copy's chat > follow the progress there
Note: The project card shows Migrating to SSR until the upgrade is complete. During this time, you can preview, chat with, and delete the copy, but publishing, code saves, version restores, domain and slug changes, and cloning are paused.
If the upgrade stops before it finishes, type "continue the migration" into the new copy’s chat to pick up where it left off
Note: Clicking [Migrate] again from the original project creates another copy, so always continue from the existing copy instead.
Once the Migrating to SSR status clears, open the new copy > preview each page and its navigation > and test the features you migrated for, as the upgrade may leave a few things to fix
Add any Secrets and external connections your project needs, as these may not carry over automatically (follow the steps above)
(optional) Enable AI Studio Cloud on the new copy, as migrating doesn't turn on Cloud automatically. Refer to our AI Studio Cloud guide for the steps to do so.
Click the ↗︎ square arrow icon at the top of the page to open the new copy in a new tab > and check that everything works the same way as your original project
Forms - submit a test entry > and confirm it arrives in Site Pages > [Forms] > [Submissions]
Calendars - make a test booking > and confirm it appears in your Ivorey™ calendar
Buttons, links, and menus - click each one to confirm it goes to the right page or URL
Images and embedded widgets (e.g. review widgets, chat widgets, countdown timers) - confirm they display and work as expected
Page layouts - click the 💻 computer screen icon to check how each page displays on Desktop, Tablet, and Mobile
Note: If anything is missing or looks different, describe the issue in the chat or use [Visual Edits] to fix it.
Open any workflows that you created for your old project, which use the AI Studio Form Submitted trigger > and update the AI Studio Project filter to point to the new copy
Note: Workflows triggered by forms in your original project keep listening to the original project until you update them.
When you're ready to switch over, publish the new copy and connect your domain to it, following the Review and Publish Your Project steps in our AI Studio guide
Note: Your domain stays connected to your original project until you change it, so plan the switch for a time that won't disrupt your live site.
Send a test form submission through the new copy to confirm your workflows are firing as expected
Yes, you still need Advanced SEO Support for your older projects if you choose not to migrate them. Older projects keep their existing setup, so the Advanced SEO Support toggle on the project's SEO tab still applies to them.
