If you're sending SMS messages from Ivorey
in a country that doesn't require A2P registration, such as Australia, New Zealand, or the UK, you still need to meet carrier expectations around sender identification and opt-out language to ensure your messages are delivered reliably and not filtered as spam.
Ivorey
has built-in SMS Compliance settings that handle this automatically, by adding sender identification and opt-out language to your outbound messages when those elements are missing.
This guide is perfect if you want to:
Ensure your SMS messages are compliant and deliver reliably (outside of the US and Canada)
Automatically add opt-out language and sender identification to your messages
Set up a recurring cadence so compliance elements are re-inserted in ongoing conversations
Once your messaging compliance settings are enabled and configured, sender identification and opt-out language will always be included in the first outbound SMS message of any conversation (including missed call text-backs and review requests).
These compliance elements will then be re-inserted in your ongoing conversation, after the interval you set (e.g. every 30 days), so contacts are regularly reminded of who you are and how to opt out.
won't add it again. The system detects full opt-out phrases (e.g. "Reply STOP to unsubscribe", "Text STOP to opt out") and stops re-insertion automatically. A single word like "stop" used naturally in a sentence (e.g. "Don't forget to stop by tomorrow") will not be detected as opt-out language and will not stop compliance information from being added. From the Ivorey
main menu, go to Settings > Phone Numbers > and click the [Messaging] tab, on the top menu bar
Tick the box next to Make SMS compliant by adding an opt-out message. This automatically adds opt-out language (e.g. "Reply STOP to unsubscribe") to the first message in any conversation where it isn't already included
Click [Customize] to edit the opt-out text to match your brand voice
Note: Ensure to include one of the following compliant opt-out keywords: STOP, STOPALL, CANCEL, UNSUBSCRIBE, END, or QUIT.
Tick the box next to Make SMS compliant by adding sender information. This automatically adds your sender identification to outbound messages so recipients know who is texting them
Click [Customize] to set your sender information - keep it clear and on-brand (e.g. "Thanks, Your Business Name" or "- Team Your Business")
Tick the box next to Enable periodic opt-out & sender info. This re-inserts your sender identification and opt-out language on a recurring schedule, throughout ongoing conversations, not just the first message
Set the number of days, between 1 and 60, before the information should be re-inserted (30 days is a reasonable starting point for most businesses)
Click the [Save] button, at the bottom right
While A2P registration is a legal requirement specific to the US and Canada, carriers in other countries still filter messages that lack sender identification or clear opt-out instructions. Enabling these settings is strongly recommended regardless of your location to protect your deliverability.
You can disable them if your account is more than 15 days old and you have admin permissions. However, we recommend keeping them enabled, because they protect your deliverability and ensure a consistent, professional experience for your contacts.
Yes, these compliance settings apply to all outbound SMS sent from your account, including messages sent via workflows.
