This article is one step from our Master Help Guide: All About Products and Payments. We recommend starting with the visual walkthrough video and examples inside the Master Help Guide before diving into the technical breakdown below.
Each Master Help Guide acts as your project plan – teaching you the feature, laying out the steps in the right order, and linking to every resource you’ll need along the way.
This guide is perfect if you're looking to:
Set up your products and taxes inside of Ivorey
Import existing Stripe products
Use your products seamlessly across proposals, invoices, payment links, funnels, online stores, and more
If you’ve already connected your Stripe account, you can import your existing products directly from Stripe. Otherwise, go to [Payments] > [Products] > [Add New] to set them up from scratch.
Whilst there's many settings available for products, many of them (such as categories, inventory, variants etc) are only applicable if you'll be using these products in an online e-commerce style store. If not, just skip those settings and pay attention to the ones below instead.
You can load all of your services, retainers, packages, digital products or offers into Ivorey. Once they’re in the system, you can use them across:
Proposals
Invoices
Payment links
Website and funnels
Online stores and more
This just makes them available to be pulled in, how you sell them is totally up to you.
To set up products and services, from the Ivorey
main menu, go to Payments > then along the top menu bar, click on [Products] > then click [+ Create New Product] on the top right-hand corner of your screen
If this is not for an online store, toggle off the Include in Online Store option at the top
Work your way through completing the information:
Product Name: Give your product or service a clear name (e.g. “Monthly Retainer”)
Description: Add an optional description. This can be pulled into invoices or proposals
Image: Upload at least one image (this is optional, but helps make things visual, especially on proposals or product pages)
Pricing: To create a one-time payment, select [One Time] and enter the amount. To create a recurring subscription, select [Recurring], enter the amount and frequency (e.g. weekly or monthly). To create a payment plan, follow the same same steps as recurring, except set the number of payments. e.g. a 6 month payment plan should be set to 6 payments, at which point the subscription would then stop
Membership Offer: Under each price point > [Additional Options] > you'll have the option to link any of your membership offers to your product. This means, when someone purchases this price point, they would get automatically granted access to certain offers (setup under [Courses] > [Offers]). You can add none, one or multiple
Once complete, click [Save]
To manage taxes in Ivorey, head to Payments > Settings > Taxes. This is where you’ll control how taxes are applied across your products and services.
You’ll see an option to select whether your prices are:
Tax Inclusive (Yes) → The price shown already includes tax
Tax Exclusive (No) → Tax will be added on top of the price shown
Click Add Tax and enter the name of the tax (e.g. GST, VAT) and the percentage (e.g. 10%). You can add multiple tax rates here. This doesn’t apply them automatically, it just makes them available to use later
You can also toggle on Automatic Taxes. This feature detects the customer’s address and calculates the correct sales tax at checkout. It only works if:
You collect the customers address so it can detect the tax location
You choose a default tax category to apply
Once your tax settings are in place, go back to Payments > Products and open each product one by one. You’ll have two options:
Use Global Settings: Simply select [As Per Global Settings] to apply your default tax rules
Override and Set Manually: This is handy if you have mixed taxable and non-taxable products, or different rates for different offers. If a product needs a different setup:
Choose if it's tax inclusive or exclusive
Attach the relevant tax rate(s) manually (e.g. 10% GST in Australia)
A product is the main item or service you’re selling, while variants allow you to offer options like size, color, or tiered packages under the same product.
Yes, you can create digital, physical, or service-based products and manage everything directly inside your account.
Ivorey does not automatically calculate or remit taxes for you. You can manually configure tax settings based on your business needs.
Not always. You can turn taxes on or off per product depending on what you're selling and your local tax requirements.
Yes, once your product is created, you can attach it to any funnel, page, or offer where you want to make it available.
Ivorey
allows you to configure shipping fees inside each product. You can add flat rates, free shipping, or custom amounts.
Absolutely. You can monitor orders, payments, and customer activity through your Payments or Orders tab.
Review the tax settings inside your product to ensure rates are entered correctly. Adjust as needed based on your state or country rules.
You can update the price of an existing product. However, for best practice and to ensure accurate billing and sync with your payment gateway, we recommend creating a new product or price rather than updating an existing one. This is because modifying prices multiple times can cause a sync mismatch between Ivorey
and Stripe, potentially leading to customers being charged the incorrect amount.
Ivorey
should always be used as the source of truth for subscription pricing. If you update a product’s price directly in Stripe, those changes may not sync correctly back to Ivorey
, which can lead to inaccurate reporting or tax discrepancies.
To ensure pricing, taxes, and reporting remain accurate, all subscription price updates should be made inside Ivorey
. Any changes made in Ivorey
will automatically sync to Stripe. If taxes are configured on the updated product in Ivorey
, they will be reflected correctly in both Ivorey
and Stripe for new subscriptions.
Note that when a price is updated:
The new price applies only to new subscriptions
Existing active subscriptions will continue billing at the original price
To change pricing for active subscribers, those subscriptions must be manually updated or recreated using the new price.
If Automatic Taxes are enabled correctly but the tax amount still isn’t reflecting at checkout, it’s usually because the customer has not correctly completed their billing address.
For Automatic Taxes to work correctly, the checkout must collect a valid and complete billing address. Simply selecting the country is not enough to calculate tax.
How to ensure tax appears correctly at checkout:
Go to Payments > Settings > Taxes
Make sure Automatic Taxes are enabled
Confirm your preferred country is included as a supported country
Ensure the checkout collects a full billing address
When a complete billing address is entered at checkout, tax will automatically be applied to the order subtotal.
