When you’re setting up any AI feature in Ivorey
, whether it's a Conversation AI bot, Voice AI, etc. the most important first step is giving your AI the right information to work with. You can save time and stay consistent by saving your AI training materials as custom values.
This guide is perfect if you want to:
Train your AI to communicate in your voice and style
Give your AI accurate information about your business and offers
Create reusable custom values you can plug into any AI feature across your account
In Ivorey
, custom values act as reusable containers for information. You can use these to save your AI personality (how the AI communicates) and your business information (what the AI knows about what you do). Once set up, you can reference these custom values across any AI feature in your account, so you only ever have to write them once.
Before creating your custom values, you'll want to have the AI personality and business information written up and ready to paste in. We've made this easy by providing a template document, which you can fill in and customise for your business.

as custom values.
From the Ivorey
main menu, go to Settings > Custom Values > then click the [Add Folder] button, in the top right corner
Enter the folder Name (e.g. AI Training) > and click [Create]
Click on the [Folders] tab, at the top left > and open your newly created folder
Click [+ Add Custom Value] > give it a clear name (e.g. AI Personality - DM bot) > paste in your completed personality template from your Google Doc, into the Value field > and click [Create]
Click the [+ Add Custom Value] button, in the top right corner > give it a clear name (e.g. AI Business Information) > paste in your completed business information template, into the Value field > and click [Create]
Create more custom values, as needed, if you would like to create specific training for specific AI tools
Note: The custom value field displays everything on a single line, which can make it look a little different to your Google Doc. Don't worry, this is normal and won't affect how the AI reads it. Always make edits in your Google Doc first > then click the [⋮] three dots > [
Edit] > paste the updated version in the Value field > and click [Update]
Once your custom values are set up, you can reference them inside any AI feature in your Ivorey
account (Conversation AI bots, workflow AI steps, Voice AI, and more), wherever the AI setup asks for this information. This means you only ever have to update your information in one place, and every AI feature across your account stays consistent automatically.
Wherever you want to insert the AI personality or business information, look for a
tag icon, to select your custom value > click [Custom Values] > and search for the custom value you’re looking for
If the tag icon is not available, go to Settings > Custom Values > open your folder and find the custom value you’re looking for > click the [⧉] copy icon, next to the custom value > and paste it into the AI training area
Detailed enough that the AI can accurately describe what you do and who you serve, without writing pages of information.
If you’re unsure about what to write, copy the template and paste it into Claude, ChatGPT, or another AI chat model, along with a voice note talking through your answers out loud. The AI model will help you write it up.
Yes, these custom values are designed to be reusable across every AI feature in your account, so your personality and business information stays consistent no matter which tool you're using.
However, you can create separate custom values for specific uses if needed (e.g. DM bot, chat widget, Voice AI).
En and Em-dashes are the long dashes (—) that AI tools commonly use in generated text. They're a telltale sign that a response was AI-generated and can make your communications feel robotic and impersonal. Explicitly telling the AI not to use them in your personality instructions will keep responses feeling more natural and human.
Yes, if you update your AI personality or business information, make sure you edit your Google Doc and then paste the updated copy into the custom value in Ivorey
(so the AI reflects the change). This will make the edits a lot easier to manage, and you will have the Google Doc as a stored record of changes made.
