Learn all about community channels and access our step-by-step instructions, FAQs, and everything you need to know!

-   Add new channels to your community for discussion topics
    
-   Control channel privacy (public, private, or read-only) for member access
    
-   Edit or delete existing channels, for instance temporary offers or group chats

## how to create and manage community channels

Channels let you organise discussions by topic, so members can easily find and join conversations that matter most. Follow these steps to create your first channel.

1.  From the main ivorey menu, go to **Portals** > **Communities** > **Groups**
    
2.  Click **\[Login\]** on your community group
    
3.  Inside the community, select **\[+ Add Channels\]** from the bottom left
    
4.  Enter your channel name, description, and toggle the settings:
    
    1.  **Public**: All members of the community can access
        
    2.  **Private**: Only selected members can see the channel and its contents
        
    3.  **Read-Only**: Members can see the channel but can’t post
        
5.  Click **\[Create Channel\]** to finish
    
6.  To manage or edit channels Inside your community, click on the channel you want to manage > and select the ⚙ **Settings** icon to:
    
    1.  **Edit details** like the channel name or description
        
    2.  **Update privacy** to toggle between public, private, or read-only
        
    3.  **Delete the channel** if it’s no longer needed
        

> **Warning:** Deleted channels cannot be recovered. Always double-check before removing one, so your discussion isn't permanently lost!

Yes, you can adjust a channel’s privacy any time, inside the channel’s settings.

can i set up multiple channels for the same group?

Absolutely, you can add as many channels as you need to organise discussions.
